Never Kill Yourself is a catchphrase and copypasta used in caption memes alongside an image of something that gives the poster joy, most often gaming, drinking or eating, to suggest you should not commit suicide because then you cannot experience these joys. The phrase was popularized on X / Twitter between August and September 2024 as numerous users shared photos of things alongside the caption.
It is unclear when exactly the phrase "never kill yourself" was first used on X / Twitter. Examples of the phrase being used on the platform date to as early as November 10th, 2023, when X user @spybbie posted, "your tits are huge never kill yourself," garnering around 160 likes in 10 months.
On August 1st, 2024, X user @fraxiommusic posted the earliest known use of the phrase alongside an image of food that largely became synonymous with the memetic trend, garnering over 80 likes in a month. It is unconfirmed if this is the true origin of the meme.
